How St Mark's Square tours differ
There is no single "St Mark's Square ticket". A guided walk on the open square is one product. The Campanile lift is a second one, with its own admission. The Clock Tower is a third, and you can only enter it with a reserved guide. A museum visit is a fourth. A ticket for one of these does not give you access to the others.
Check four things for each tour: the language, the meeting point, which entrances are included and how much walking and climbing it involves. Prices on this page are published figures for 2026 unless stated otherwise. They change, and a published price does not show free places on your day.

What the tour types mean
The wording on booking pages can hide the differences.
Walking tours of the square
A walk covers the square, the Piazzetta and the outside of the buildings. Do not assume that it includes a tower or a museum. Ask whether any entrance fee is part of the price. For tours inside the basilica or the Doge's Palace, see the tours on our sister guide.
Tower visits
The Campanile lift runs up and down in about 40 to 45 seconds and offers no stairs. The Clock Tower has narrow, steep stairs over several levels and is not suitable for people with walking difficulties. A "tower tour" that does not name the tower and the ticket type is worth a question.
Campanile →Museum tours
The Royal Apartments visit is a reserved guided route for up to 10 people. English slots are at 10:30 and 15:30, Italian at 14:00 and French at 12:00. It is not sold as a ticket without a guide.
Museo Correr →Private guides
One guide cooperative published a 2025 rate of €175 for a group of up to 25 people. That is a group price, not a price per person, and it is a 2025 figure, not a 2026 offer. A pickup and surcharges of 20 percent, or up to 50 percent in the evening, were listed as possible extras. No museum entrance was included automatically.
Rules for guided groups in Venice
In force since 1 August 2024 and still published.
The city limits a guided group to 25 guests, not counting the guide, and children up to age 2 do not count. Loudspeakers are not allowed, and groups may not block bridges or ramps. Groups of more than 10 people must use earpieces, with exceptions for school trips. If your tour is small and quiet, you will notice few of these rules. If it is large, expect the guide to split it. Check the current rules before a group trip, because they may change.
What to check before you book
The same questions apply to every tour.
Language and meeting point
The Clock Tower lists no fixed German tour, and other languages are on request. The meeting point there is the Correr ticket office, 5 minutes before the slot. Check the same details for any walking tour.
What is included
Entrance fees, lift rides and museum tickets are often separate. A walking tour does not guarantee access to any building.
Stairs and fitness
The Clock Tower operator advises against the visit for people with claustrophobia, vertigo, heart or breathing problems and in pregnancy. Arrive on time: after more than 15 minutes of delay you lose your place.
Cancellation terms
Terms differ for every product. Read the conditions of the tour you choose before you pay.

St Mark's Square tours: frequently asked questions
Is there a ticket that covers the whole of St Mark's Square?
No. The open square is free. The Campanile, the Clock Tower and the museums each have their own tickets, and a guided walk does not guarantee entry to any building.
Can I visit the Clock Tower without a guide?
No. Entry is only with a reserved guide, from age 6, at €15 or reduced €11 in 2026. The ticket also covers the Correr, the archaeology museum and the Marciana rooms.
Does the Campanile ticket include the basilica?
No. It covers the lift ride only. It includes neither the basilica nor the Pala d'Oro nor a museum.
How big can a guided group be?
The city's rule allows 25 guests plus the guide, and children up to age 2 do not count. Groups of more than 10 people must use earpieces. The rule dates from 1 August 2024.
Is a private guide cheaper than a group tour?
That depends on your group. One cooperative published €175 for up to 25 people in 2025. That is a group price, and it is not a price per person.
