The Clock Tower at a glance
The Torre dell'Orologio is the tower with the blue and gold dial on St Mark's Square. You cannot just walk in. Entry is only with a reserved guided visit, and children must be at least 6 years old. The visit is a slot on a calendar, not a daily opening period, so book a time before you plan the rest of your day.
The ticket is also valid for the Museo Correr, the archaeology museum and the monumental rooms of the Marciana Library. The Doge's Palace is not part of it. This is an independent guide, not the museum operator, and prices are the figures published for 2026. They change.

Prices and reductions
Adult and reduced rates, 2026.
The full price is €15. The reduced price is €11 for children from 6 to 14, students from 15 to 25, over-65s, residents and people born in Venice, Rolling Venice cardholders and holders of certain MUVE tickets or cards. When you book online, only the age and student reductions can be selected. For the other groups you need proof at the meeting point. The information page shows no separate online booking fee.
The ticket gives you more than the tower. It also opens the Correr, the archaeology museum and the Marciana rooms, so it can work as a museum visit for the same money. The full museum ticket with the Doge's Palace is described on the Museo Correr page, and the palace itself is covered by our sister guide to the Doge's Palace.
On the day
Meeting point, timing and stairs.
Meeting point
You meet at the Correr ticket office 5 minutes before your slot. Arrive on time: if you are more than 15 minutes late, you can no longer take part.
The stairs
The route has narrow, steep stairs over several levels. It is not suitable for people with walking difficulties. The operator advises against the visit if you have claustrophobia, vertigo, heart or breathing problems, or if you are pregnant. Unlike the Campanile, which you reach by lift, this visit is on foot.
How long it takes
The operator publishes slots, not a fixed duration for every tour. Leave a flexible gap in your day after the slot, especially if you want to use the museum entrance as well.
The language
Pick the language on the booking page with care. If you want German, there is no fixed slot, so ask the operator about a request departure before you travel.
What to look at from the outside
The tower is also worth a look from the Piazza.
The blue and gold dial shows the signs of the zodiac. The winged lion of St Mark appears on the tower as well, and the picture below shows it. If you cannot get a slot, you can still see the dial from the square. At the foot of the tower, on the Piazza, stands the Caffè Lavena, listed at Piazza San Marco 133/134. Its operator dates the house to 1750. See the historic cafés page for Florian, Quadri and Lavena.

Clock Tower or Campanile?
Two towers on the same square.
The Campanile is the better choice for an easy ride and a wide view. It costs €15, has its own ticket and is reached by lift. The Clock Tower costs the same at full price, but you go with a guide, on foot, and the ticket also opens three museums. If you only have time for one, decide by how well you manage stairs and whether you prefer a guided slot over a free choice of time. If you want to see more of the square, the tours page compares the options.
